3rd- 6th Class Geography Trip to Mitchelstown Cave and Glengarra Woods
Last week, the 3rd - 6th classes embarked on an exciting geography trip to Mitchelstown Cave and Glengarra Woods. It was an amazing day for everyone, blessed with perfect weather.
In Mitchelstown Cave, we saw stalactites and stalagmites, learning about these geological formations. We were also thrilled to learn that the caves host music concerts from time to time. Our trip included the rare opportunity to sing in the cave, with the 5th and 6th classes performing "Zombie" as Gaeilge and 3rd & 4th class performing TMCA and the Macarena. Which I’m sure was a first in the cave!
After exploring the Mitchelstown cave, we enjoyed a serene walk through Glengarra Woods, taking in the beautiful surroundings and fresh air. We observed a variety of flora and fauna, including native trees, wildflowers, and even some woodland creatures. The trip was a wonderful opportunity for our students to connect with nature and gain hands-on learning experiences.
Overall, it was a memorable day filled with discovery and adventure!
